As a tourist, you should be careful to not deviate too much off the beaten path, as land mines and unexploded ordinances dot beautiful mountain sides, valleys, and fields. Sarajevo, Mostar, and Banja Luka are the major cities, although for an enriching travel experience one should stop in the smaller cities and villages. Exploit any opportunity to visit the local bakeries or restaurants as Bosnia has some of the best food and drink in the Balkans. Do not leave without trying burek, cevapi, corba, rakija (a strong alcoholic drink), tufahija, or roasted lamb.
